Shape Your Life

By Christina Sacha

AT AGE 36, WITH TWO KIDS, I’M IN THE BEST SHAPE OF MY LIFE AND I FEEL GREAT!

After having my second child and still swallowing the hard reality that I had gained 40 lbs. to my original size six frame, I thought I had no choice but to accept the fact that I was now a changed woman. I would never be able to feel sexy with lights on or god forbid be seen in a bikini. Fortunately, my postpartum blues turned to determination when my second child turned six months old.

But what were my options? If I was going to get my ol’ self back, it had to be something drastic. First, I needed a goal. After 25 years of pageantry and several titles, I had hung up my crown and banner more than 10 years ago. But what better way to set a goal for myself! The Mrs. Colorado Pageant was four months away and I had a goal to be ready for the swimsuit competition. Now that I had a goal, how was I going to get there? The buzz around town and among my “mommy friends” was Ray Khan, owner of Kick-Fit Athletics. After hearing all of the success stories, I knew that Ray was my secret weapon to being crowned Mrs. Colorado and the road to get what I wanted back, “MY OL’ SELF!”

I knew it was going to be a tough road after my initial consolation with Ray. I was determined and knew when I wasn’t determined Ray would be. After four months of fun and exhilarating workouts (which consisted of a lot of cursing on my part and down right anger and frustration as well) I was ready for the swimsuit competition. I was also 50 lbs. lighter and the most fit I had ever been in my life (for those of you not paying attention, that is 10 lbs. more than I gained during my pregnancy)! Now a size two, not only do I have my “ol’ self back” but I am new and improved!

The outcome of the Mrs. Colorado Pageant was a perfect score in the swimsuit competition and the award of First Runner Up to Mrs. Colorado. I was very proud of myself and I couldn’t believe the changes I had made in just four months. I didn’t stop there! I spent the next year enjoying my life changes and thriving on being healthy and fit! So, I gave the Mrs. Colorado Pageant another shot. I competed with over 55 women and finished the competition with a perfect score in every single category! I heard my name called as Mrs. Colorado 2008 . . . to say that I was excited is an understatement! I have to mention that I beat out several women in there twenties. Now that was worth all the hard work with Ray!

I will be competing in the Mrs. America competition in September and I am going there feeling the best I have felt my entire life. No matter the outcome, I will be able to walk away knowing that I was able to make changes to better myself and those changes have benefited my whole family.

My husband is a heart attack survivor and I have been able to share my new way of living with him to keep him “heart healthy.” I am proud to be a wife, mother, and a woman who lives the “kick-fit way.”
